Job Details:

Applicants must submit copies of all required certifications to include: Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR-AED for the professional rescuer with city application. Water Safety Instruction (WSI) is highly desirable but not required. High school students must obtain and submit a copy of the work permit application with the city employment application. All applicants must have available their social security cards to apply for this position. STUDENT WORK PERMITS are obtained from the attending school or the School District Administrative Office.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Monitors pool activities and take preventative actions to maintain the safety of the pool area by warning against unsafe practices;
  • Responds to water emergencies, rescues, and assist patrons in the water;
  • Provides basic first aid to swimmers as required;
  • Reports and completes incident and accident reports;
  • Instructs swimming lessons, complete and maintain swim lesson records, logs, and certificates;
  • Records attendance of all pre-registered participants;
  • Maintains the pool area, sweep, hose down deck and pool area, dispose of trash, dirt, leaves, and other debris;
  • Test pool for proper chemical and water balances and maintains equipment and supplies for pool;
  • Other job/department related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS: Possess at the time of application possess and maintain Lifeguard Training, First Aid, and CPR-AED for the Professional Rescuer certifications and be able to:
  • Maintain effective and courteous working relationships with parents, campers, co-workers, and community members;
  • Express maturity in thought and demonstrate good judgment in performing duties;
  • Ability to follow supervision and suggestions of management for improvement of service;
  • Willingness to cooperate with other employees and the public they serve;
  • Demonstrate good citizenship, honesty, loyalty, ethical behavior, and sobriety;
